Suzuki new engine plant in Indonesia will open by march 2012

According to the Nikkei,The new facility will be constructed at its existing production base in West Java, with the capacity to turn out 100,000 engines a year. Now the company already makes 50,000 engines a year in Indonesia, but imports the rest from Japan. The new factory will help boost local procurement, improve efficiency and lower costs.

The plant would possibly develop low-cost cars, as the country’s government has encouraged. Suzuki also intends to add more local content to its cars and two-wheelers,.The new investments would enable the plant to double the firm’s annual production capacity of cars too.Darmadi, the ministry’s director general of high-technology-based priority industry, said the investments would also be allocated to the manufacturing of engines and developing new car prototypes and designs. He claimed Suzuki would start construction of its new plant and upgrade its production capacity next year.

“The construction work will take around one year, while the expansion will be completed in around eight months,” Jakarta Post reports Sindhuwinata as saying.

In 2010 total 75,000 of SX4,Swift,Carry,Grand Vitara was produce from the plant while some 765,000 new vehicles sold there last year in Indonesia, up 60% from 2009. but total of every nameplate Suzuki produces is between 120,000 and 140,000 cars and 1.2 million motorcycles in Indonesia

The forecast put forward by the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo) suggests that car sales in the country may increase by 11.5% year-on-year to 830,000 cars in 2011.

The unnamed small MPV is based from the R3 concept that open to people at 2010 Delhi autoshow.Suzukifan see that the large triangular headlights,Bonnet shape look like develope from the concept.While bumper and grille look familiar to other Suzuki models.The suicide rear door opening was eliminate and replace by normal rear door.At the rear suzuki fan feel like a re work of Suzuki APV that on selling in Indonesia.

The production version of R3 will get extra rear seat which can accommodate around six or seven passenger depend on middle row which customer will be offer normal seat or offer 2 captain seat.

The india spec could get 4 cylinder 1.4 liter 92 hp petrol and 90hp DDis 1.3 liter diesel engine.The Asean spec could get bigger petrol engine a the size between 1.4 liter to 1.6 liter.

The car can be booking in India at late this year or early next year.In Indonesia will be another main production base should be ready by middle of 2012.

Mazda continues to be the fastest growing auto brand in Thailand,Suzuki fallow.

Mazda continues to be the fastest growing auto brand in Thailand, with sales surging and market share rising to unprecedented levels in the first 3 quarters.

Mr Choichi Yuki MD of Mazda Sales (Thailand) said that company has soaring orders at home and abroad.

Total vehicle sales in the first nine months of the year soared 52% year on year to 555,515 units, with Mazda selling 25,763, up by 242%. That made it the fastest growing brand, with its market share almost doubling to 4.6% from 2.4% in 2009.

Mazda’s dream of capturing a 5% market share this year by riding the popularity of the Mazda2 subcompact is becoming increasingly possible.

Toyota was the top seller for the period, with sales climbing by 47% to 225,557 units, followed by Isuzu (105,659 units, up 41%), Honda (82,063 units, up 30%), Nissan (38,043 unit, up 92%), Mitsubishi (26,614 units, up 118%), Chevrolet (13,706 units, up 31%), Ford (7,084 units, up 35%) and Suzuki (3,932 units, up 132%).

Mazda’s sales received a strong boost from the Mazda2, which debuted locally last November. Sales of the subcompact reached 17,056 units in the first three quarters.

Mr Choichi Yuki said that Auto Alliance (Thailand) (AAT), the Ford Mazda JV production facility in Rayong province, recently upped his brand’s output for delivery to customers in the fourth quarter.

The move came at the request of Mazda Sales (Thailand), as production of the Mazda2 and BT-50 has been unable to keep pace with soaring orders both at home and abroad. The AAT plant was producing 100,000 passenger cars annually, split evenly between the Mazda2 and the Ford Fiesta, and 175,000 pickups, split equally between the Mazda BT-50 and the Ford Ranger.

Competition will be stronger in the fourth quarter, which is the traditional auto buying season, especially for passenger cars. Several companies plan launches of new models. Mazda will introduce its new pickup truck, which will eventually replace the BT-50.

Local supply of the BT-50 earlier ran out, as almost all of the units made by AAT were exported.

Mr Yuki that “The Thai automobile market has experienced dramatic growth this year.”

He called 2010 a golden year for the local auto market, with expected total domestic sales of 750,000 to 800,000 units.

Mazda’s sales will exceed 35,000 vehicles this year, thanks mostly to the Mazda2 remaining highly popular in the subcompact car market. The company’s success continued last month by not only achieving its sales target but also recording the highest growth in the market. Total auto sales in Thailand reached 68,085 units in September, up by 52% year on year. Mazda sold 2,934 vehicles, up by 190%.

Maruti Suzuki India is all set to unveil ‘Concept R3′ a first compact multi-purpose vehicle or MPV at the forthcoming Auto Expo 2010 in January.

The 6-seater MPV has been conceptualized , designed and built from the search by a team of talented Indian designers in India over a short time span of nine months. It represents the next level of skill enhancement of Maruti Suzuki engineers.

After closely watching the success of the Toyota Innova, Maruti is planning to launch an MPV in India but in a segment below the Innova. The RIII concept to be unveiled at the Auto Expo will reveal a compact MPV with good packaging of three rows of seats.

Built on a stretched SX4 platform, the production version of the RIII is expected to be built on a monocoque and hence will be more car-like in its driving characteristics than a typical body-on-frame design. It would be safe to assume that petrol power will be offered via a Suzuki K-series motor, which is fast becoming Maruti’s staple engine family. Engine displacements are likely to vary between 1.2 to 1.4 litres. A diesel engine option is a must and it’s likely that the popular Fiat 1.3-litre Multijet will be employed for the RIII.

However, VW’s recent buy out of a 20 percent stake in Suzuki raises the possibility of engines from the German carmaker finding their way under the R III’s hood.

The RIII is currently only in the concept stage and it would take another 18-24 months to make it a showroom reality, once the green light for production is given. The RIII is also part of Maruti’s strategy to explore more profitable segments of the market and lessen its reliance on the small car sector where it is totally dominant.
