Maruti suzuki India  sells 450,000 unit of  Swift cars in 5 years

The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India on Monday said its premium compact car Swift has crossed the 450,000 unit sales mark since its launch five years ago in 2005.Nearly 16,000 customers had placed advance orders for the Swift even before it was unveiled and its price made public.

“The Swift was launched in India on May 25, 2005. Nearly 16,000 customers had placed advance orders for the Swift even before it was unveiled and its price made public. In these five years, more than 450,000 Swift cars have been sold in India,” the company said in a statement.

To meet the increased demand, the company has increased the production of the car, including the diesel variant, to over 12,000 units every month at present, from about 5,000 units during the initial period.

even with a waiting period of 3 months for the petrol variant and 4 months for the diesel variant.

the Swift Dzire which is a sedan version of Swift is  now rooling the roost in the lower C-segment. The Dzire sold a lakh units within a span of 18 months since its launch.and sale around 7000-9000 unit /month.
