Maruti Suzuki Report Sale Of March 2010
Maruti Suzuki India said that the company reported a growth of 29% in sales for the year ended March 31, 2010 with the total sales exceeding one million vehicles.
The company’s total sales in the fiscal year 2010 was 10,18,365 vehicles compared to 7,92,167 vehicles in the previous fiscal. During the year the exports surged 111% to 1,47,575 vehicles from 70023 vehicles in the last year.
Maruti is likely to face their toughest competition in the Indian market yet this year. A lot of new models are arriving (or have arrived). From Volkswagen Polo to Ford Figo, everyone wants a piece of their market share.
In March 2010, the company’s sales increased 11% to 95,123 vehicles from 85,669 vehicles in the year ago month.
The company sold 1,018,365 vehicles during 2009-10, of which 147,575 were exported. Total sales were up an impressive 29%, despite a difficult year. As Maruti officials rightly said, it is a global achievement, one which the entire nation can be proud of. This is the first time in Indian automobile history that a car company has sold over a million units in a financial year.
So what has Maruti Suzuki done right? How did a small company that produces small cars capture the imagination of a whole country and continue to occupy a pride of place in a tough and demanding world of automobiles?
