Maruti Suzuki is currently working at a 30% above total capacity
the India’s largest automaker, Maruti Suzuki is currently working at a 30% above level its total capacity with a view to fulfil the ever-rising demand of the consumers in the Indian automotive market. In fact, the company has an installed capacity of 700,000-750,000 but the aim is to produce much higher, 1.1 to 1.6 million cars in the next fiscal.
“We will need new production lines to come onstream,” Mr. Bhargava said.
Maruti produced 931,724 vehicles between April 2009 and February 2010, a 35% increase from a year earlier, according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.
The company Tuesday announced expanding the annual car production capacity at the Manesar plant in Haryana state by 250,000 autos to 550,000 in the next two years. India’s biggest car maker by sales has another factory at Gurgaon in Haryana.
