Maruti Suzuki to hire 3,000 staff over 3 years and will cut down wait period
Maruti Suzuki will hire 3,000 people over the next three years as the leading Indian carmaker expands its operations in the fast-growing market, a senior official said on Friday.
To hire about 20 from Europe, Japan for design, R&D
S.Y. Siddiqui, head of human resources at Maruti, which is 54.2 percent owned by Suzuki Motor Corp ), said the company would add 500 staff to its research and development (R&D) and design departments, including about 20 from Europe and Japan.
“The idea behind hiring from overseas is driven by their specialised skill sets in design. We are looking at an R&D strength of 1,500 people by 2012 as by then we will be fully independent in R&D,” he said.

Maruti, which currently has 7,500 employees, had hired about 10 people from Detroit in 2009/10 for specialised designs, he said on the sidelines of a conference.

Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest carmaker, will invest Rs 200 crore in setting up company-owned stockyards and model showrooms across the country by 2011-12.
Speaking to reporters, Head of Human Resources, SY Siddiqui said, Maruti Suzuki is also investing Rs 2 billion to add showrooms and regional stockyards
According to a media report, the firm will set up regional stockyards to reduce delivery time of cars to dealerships.
The company will initially set up three stockyards in Bangalore, Maharashtra and either Uttar Pradesh or West Bengal, the report said.
Siddiqui said the company aims to acquire around 25 acres in each zone for such stockyards. He added that the delivery time for Maruti cars would be cut down once the stockyards are operational.
Maruti to produce 10.27 lakh cars both on fiscal and calender year basis
According to the official statement by Suzuki, “In expectation of continued growth in the Indian car market, Maruti Suzuki will invest 17 billion rupees (about ?33 billion) in new facilities at its Manesar plant to increase the plant’s annual production capacity to 550 thousand units from the current 300 thousand units. The new facilities are scheduled to start operating in spring 2012. As a result, Maruti Suzuki will have annual production capacity of 1.25 million units (700 ,000 units at its Gurgaon plant; 550 ,000 units at its Manesar plant).
