Maruti is secretly developing a car to rival Nano
-According to media reports, Maruti is secretly developing a car to rival Nano, which will be marginally costlier than Nano
-it has had a major presence in India since 1983 and currently holds around a 55 per cent market share of the passenger car market.
-To put this into perspective; of the 11 million passenger vehicles currently on the roads in India; over 7.5 million are Suzukis, with the Alto the most popular car on sale.
-When the market is three million units, we will have to make and sell 1.5 million vehicles in order to keep our market share (50 per cent) intact,” Maruti Suzuki managing director Shinzo Nakanishi said to a business daily, adding, “By adding about 3 lakh units at Manesar and through increased efficiencies, we should be able to produce 1.5 million units.
