Honda ruled out entering the ultra low-cost car (ULC) but plan to launch Swift’s )size(codename 2cv) car by 2012
after the succesful launch of the first and cheapest 4 wheel car,Tata nano, in the world.mamy carmaker was was belive that there will be a demand for ultra low-cost car.Hyundai,Suzuki,GM are gice the greenlight for thier low-cost car project but Honda say they will not enter lowcost car segment.
“India has great potential but we don’t have any plan to launch a ULC (ultra low cost) car here. But we will like to offer a car to as many customers as we can at a price which match their expectations,” said Takanobu Ito, president and CEO of Honda Motor, who took charge in June.
Sources say the company should come out with the small car in the next two to three years. The company’s research and development division is working on such a product for the Asian markets, including India, he said.
car is aims to challenge Suzuki Motor which offers seven hatchbacks, is the maker of half the cars sold in India. the car will be current Suzuki Swift’s size knowinternally as codename 2cv.the car will slot below the Jazz .
