Maruti Suzuki India Gurgaon factory update set to complate in december 2009
The company will upgrade its Gurgaon factory in the northern state of Haryana, expanding the plant’s capacity to 790,000 cars a year from 700,000 cars currently by injecting a 30 US million of money.
“This is a short-term strategy in which we are modernizing our Gurgaon plant,” Shinzo Nakanishi, managing director and chief executive of Maruti, said at a news conference. The plan is to be completed by December, he added.Maruti, based in New Delhi, has two factories in Haryana state, Gurgaon and Manesar, with a combined capacity of one million cars a year.
the production of Gurgaon plant mostly for domestic sale but the recently launch Manesar plant which are now have capacity at 300,000/year aim to add capacity to 500,000-600,000/year in the next few year is more focus on export market.
“We are formulating a long-term expansion plan, also,” Mr. Nakanishi said.
