Toyota Kirloskar’s motor india want to capture 10%  share of the indian market by 2018 and lauach new small car in 2010

Toyota Kirloskar’s goal to capture 10% of the market by 2018 is an ambitious one considering its share in the last 10 years has dropped from nearly 4% to 2.5% as Toyota Kirloskar Motors which is an equal joint venture between Toyota and Kirloskar Group. It is investing nearly Rs 3200 crores at its upcoming second manufacturing unit near Bangalor

TKML appears unconcerned to be late to the small-car party here, following competitors such as Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.’s Swift, Tata Motors Ltd.’s Nano and hyundai i10

 

Toyota is the largest auto manufacturer around the world but trails Maruti Suzuki and hyundai in India
where the sale forecast in India are from several source.some source expect sale in India will hit 3 millions unit in 2016.some say that may hit 4 millions in 2020.

Toyota Kirloskar’s also planing to lauch 1.2 liter petrol by end 2010  and  also a small diesel as  option at a later stage
We are well on track to launch the small car by end-2010 and will showcase it during the upcoming (New Delhi) Auto Expo in January,” Sandeep Singh, deputy managing director at Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd., told reporters. The week-long auto show starts Jan. 5

this car  may produce by toyota motor (Thailand) in Thailand’s eco car project

The same car platform and the same engine block could be used to develop a sedan with a slightly bigger, possibly, 1.5-litre petrol engine, he said. A diesel engine within the 1.5-litre engine size requirement (for the lower excise duty levy) may follow the petrol version.
